This article answers the question: What to do when the generator does not produce any results or results in error (execution time out)?
Sometimes, when generating a meal plan, you may encounter problems. The most common are a timeout issue, and a query that is too restrictive.
When you click the Generate Meal Plan button after creating a meal plan generator, you will see a loading progress bar.
Since the generator is querying thousands of recipes and computing a high amount of calculations, it can take 20-40 seconds for results to be generated.
In some cases, you may receive an Execution time out error. This means that the generator was not able to find results for your query quickly enough and the process was abandoned.
If you receive this error, you can simply refresh the page in your browser to try again.
Query too restrictive
Sometimes, you may get a message that your query is too restrictive and no results were found after generating a plan.
When this happens, you can press the back button on your web browser and tweak your query to make sure it is broader.
For example, try to make the Kcal and Macronutrient spread larger, tweak the carbs/protein/fat ratios (make sure they add up to 100%), etc.
If you have added cuisine/diet/intolerance data, you can try relaxing that constraint by removing it.
You can learn more about the different parameters at your disposal in this article.
After you tweak the different parameters and find a combination that generates results that are useful to you, you can re-use the generator in the future as all these changes you make are saved automatically.
