This article explains how to change the way in which the shopping list groups ingredients.
You can click here to change the way in which the shopping list groups ingredients in a meal plan. Alternatively, follow these steps.
Step 1: Log in to Mealplana at https://app.mealplana.com
Step 2: Click on Settings > Customization
Step 3: Choose Meal Plan Preferences
Step 4: Check the options under the Shopping list settings header. You can now edit options here.
There are a couple of options for the shopping list:
Distinguish foods by alias
If you have two or more entries in your meal plan for the same food (with the same nutritional information) but you have renamed one or more of the entries, the shopping list will show entries separately when you check this box.
For example:
- Bananas, raw (1 fruit, 120 grams)
- Banana, smashed with a fork (1 fruit, 120 grams)
Those two entries could be referring to the exact same item in the food database, with the same nutritional data associated with it, but one of them has been renamed. If you check the box, the entries will be shown separately.
On the other hand, if you leave the box unchecked, then the shopping list will combine both entries into one as: Bananas, raw (240 grams)
Distinguish foods by portion
When you have multiple entries of the same food, but the portion does not match, the shopping list will show entries separately when you tick the box. If you untick the box, the entries will be added together and the total amount of grams/ounces will be shown.
For example:
- Banana, (1 fruit, 120 grams)
- Banana, (1 cup, 140 grams)
With the box ticked, those two entries will be shown separately, but if the box is unticked, a single entry will show for Banana (260 grams).
